tits up

It's all gone a bit tits up here I'm afraid.
Pete and I went away to Northumberland recently all by ourselves for the first time in 13 years (no stinky boys or creatures) BLISS I tell you... antique fairs, girlie shopping time with my sister, silliness with my mad nieces who really make me laugh, Fantastic fireworks, visits to RE (I LOVE that place and it's just down the road from my sisters house!) walks in the misty woods to visit secret tucked away(immaculate) alloments, too many biscuits and copious amounts of tea..or in Pete's case, pear cider, it was a really lovely five days away..only thing is when we came back to normality we came back with an almighty bump.

Pete has just been made redundant.
Is it me or our life getting a bit like Groundhog day? crikey that film bugs me..watching the same thing happen over and over again. It doesn't seem five minutes since we were worrying about the same thing last year.

Good job we are both optimists and believe in things happening for a reason. Hopefully there is something better out there, waiting to be discovered.
I saw a beautiful rainbow yesterday and it made me think of Josie. I wore my dragonfly bracelet to work so that her wise words were with me all day. Strength, courage and happiness.
It made me think things could be a lot, lot worse.

I made this little flower brooch the other evening too..a bit of whimsy and prettiness in between the ranting and raving and rather blue language beginning with b.
Back soon... hopefully with some jolly stuff! x

  1. So sorry to hear about your husband's job. What news to come home to after such a lovely time away. You have good words of advice which I intend to take to heart as the ground is shifting under my feet at work too and its so easy to get mired in the negative. Thank you for your timely post and wise outlook.

  2. Oh no, that's awful, I'm so sorry for you both. I do however, believe like you, that these things happen for a reason; when I was working in the city, I saw numerous people get the push and all went on to something different, new and generally a helluva lot better and wondered why they'd not done it before. Sometimes, it's a push in the right direction you need. Keep your chin up, lovely lady.
    Love your flower, clever you.

  3. I'm really sorry to hear your bad news, it doesn't seem like that long ago when you where in the same position. We are on unsteady ground too at the mo, just trying to keep positive and hope that things pan out ok. What a shitty thing to happen at this time of year!
Love the brooch, the colours look lovely all together

  8. I am so sorry to hear about your husband's job and understand all too well how that feels. I too am a very firm believer that things happen for a reason. A new door will open for your husband especially as he is an optimist!

We have been in limbo over the past couple of years with similar rumours flying around and all we can do is wait and hope. It is awful that these things always seem to happen just before Christmas! It is not fun living with that at the back of your mind though. We do our best to be positive and get on with our daily life.

I have just read about your niece Josie. How sad that she should loose her life at such a young age. Heartbreaking for you all. What a very brave girl she was. I admire her courage, she must have been a very special person.

I have kept a copy of the story for my daughter.

    Take care

  11. Sorry to hear about hubbys job! What a dreadful time of year too -when its cold and dark and you just feel like hibernating - snuggling up for the winter! and of course that Christassy thing!
Still I admire your upbeat attitude, as I say to the kids say 'worse things happen at sea'!
I do hope you will be okay, chin up!

  12. I'm so sorry. It really knocks the stuffing out of you, over and over. I have two little mantras that keep me going when the world becomes a darker place one is 'keep calm and carry on' and 'action is the antidote to despair'Often the anxiety about the possibility of something happening is worse than the reality.Stay strong

  16. Sairer - what a kick back. Feels like this has been going on for too long for all of us really. I know you'll be fine though as you're fighters - just try and live in the day and let the future stay over there for a bit.

Hugs and love to you all.

  17. It sounds like you had a wonderful time on your getaway with your husband. It's always nice to recharge the ole' batteries. The shopping and eating sounds like bliss to me too.
I'm sorry that you are having to look for another job...bummer. It does sound a little like that annoying movie doesn't it?!
    Hugs,

  18. You WILL be fine - I know you will. Try not to worry about things that haven't happened yet and deal with the bad stuff as you need to. It is never as bad as we fear. Deal with the things you can and ride the things you can't alter. What we imagine is usually far worse than the reality. Hen is right too, it really can be an opening to something better. Determine to enjoy Christmas - that is what it's there for; a festival to temper what used to be a time of hardship. It doesn't need money to be magical - the spirit of Christmas is in our hearts not our purses. Please don't worry, you will all be alright and back on an even keel very soon. xx

  19. So sorry to hear you're having to go through all this worry again - we've been there and done several times, so we really sympathise. I sometimes think that if you've come through something bad once and survived you know you can do it again - even as you watch the bank balance dwindle. Glad you had a really super time away so you've got those memories to cheer you up. Lots of good wishes.

  20. Oh What a dreadful time you have been having!
I just read Josie's story and cried my eyes out, what a beautiful girl.
I am not religious but I do believe in fate and that things happen for a reason, so keep loving those that are precious to you and don't forget that at the end of the day they are the only things that are really important.
Good luck in what happens next for you...... Tracey

  23. Sairer:

I agree. Positive thoughts. There IS a reason that you just do not know yet. An opportunity is waiting in the wings. One door closes and another always opens.

    Thinking of you.

PS Bloody hell, flights are only $200.00 CDN one way I should fly over and have a pint with you!
