Why the long face, Red? |
as you know, our situations tend to come along a bit like buses, none for a while then several one after the other. It's a bit of a pain.
Not long after we had to have Maude put to sleep, we came home and found her sister Ethel had died of a heart attack.
It was a bit of a shock to say the least and very sad too.Two cats in 5 weeks. I have a house of depressed animals now, it's made all of the remaining ones act most peculiar.
Then Pete got put on a 4 day week until March which we could really have done without (hmmm Mr.Stobbart doesn't show you things like that on his cringy TV program where he swans around with his 1980's comedian's mullet in his helicopter betting a mans week's wages on a horse..cringe cringe and double cringe)
Then I had to tell Pete on Christmas Eve that his friend had died, not only a friend but the brother of his best friend who was killed on a motorbike several years ago. Double tragedy for his lovely parents. It was seeing them that really broke Pete's heart. We have also had some trouble with our dear eldest son, who also seems to get himself into situations one after the other. Pest.
So I do hope this belated Happy New Year means just that for all of you and all of us..
That's that then..onto other stuff...
Bunty Buster |
There's Buster who you have already met and his sister Bunty who lives outside in the summer house along with many others scattered about the house, which you can read about HERE. So you can imagine why I was drawn to this little chap;
I found this little brooch in a gift shop in Totnes when the old bald bloke and I went down to Devon back in October. Many minutes were spent in the shop umming and ahhing and cooing over this one item.I bet the nice lady owner wanted to hit me with a broom when I finally walked away without it.
I kicked myself on the way home as I didn't buy it at the time as it was rather expensive.Luckily thanks to the wonders of t'internet, I managed to find the lady who makes them and a diddy dog on wheels brooch found it's way to my house.
Don't you think its just so cute? A cute dog on cute wheels in a cute box..Luverly
At the moment we are busy giving the house a lick of much needed paint whilst Pete is on a four day week but as with most old houses one job turns into 500 and it seems to be taking forever. It doesn't help that half the leftover paint in the garage froze and went off so we have to do it as and when funds allow (which isn't very often at the moment!) flitting from one job to the next and then back again. I'm meant to be making blinds that I was meant to making this time last year and lampshades too and ... I think I need to make a list else I'll be procrastinating all day.. yet again
I've also been busy helping a chap out walking dogs lately, it's nice but very tiring. I did 30 in one day not so long ago.Utter madness I can tell you but it was great fun in the snow. I need to learn to do that big whistle thing that men seem to be born with the ability to do (one that doesn't require you to stick your fingers in your mouth because obviously the down side of walking dogs is the collecting of poo thing..mmm lovely) One dog is called 'Alan'. It cracks me up and I can't manage to call him across a busy park without it sounding quite ridiculous! "AAAAAAAAALUN"
cheerio for now x
Oh Sairer
ReplyDeleteI hate for you that all that crap keeps coming, don't worry about sounding a misery, you don't. It's just what your life is dealing at the moment. Anyways you left me laughing at the end. No mean feat as I'm a miserable old bugger today.
We were laughing the other day saying next Tom cat let's call it Barry as it made us roar. Simple pleasures when you're poor hey.
Take care lovely lady XXX
Hi, just want to say so sorry to hear about the loss of your two cats, so so sad for you.do you know what I love about your blog ? , your honesty and your openness and your zest for life what ever is thrown at you!! Plus we have so many shared loves, specially wheelie terriers, I was lucky to get a" buster " for Christmas , after I spotted one on your blog as well as the vintage magpies, I so wanted one. Love the dog called Alan story, my husband has a friend with a dog called Git, trust a bloke! Swending best wishes, linda
ReplyDeleteHi hun, great to see you back in blogland! I took a break too, sometimes life is too crappy to write about. Love Reds eyes...so sweet. Chins up and smile hun.
ReplyDeleteDeb x
I love your blog because of its honesty but I know what you mean when you think you will put people off when you are moaning - I worry about that too but I hate blogs that try and give the impression that all is wonderful - I sometimes wonder if they are trying to convince us or themselves.
ReplyDeleteYou did make me laugh about the dog called Alan, my sister called her rabbit Brian and my sons friend has a cat called CAT !! Hugs and loves and please keep blogging - makes me feel normal !!
So sorry for all your troubles. Shakespeare had it right, I'm afraid, they come not as single spies but in battalions (happens to us too). Love the little brooch. I love drawing terriers and have even made them in needle felt - such a satisfying shape.
ReplyDeleteSometimes things seem to be just one thing after another. Hope you can turn a corner soon. I love looking through your blog, so glad you're back.
ReplyDeleteLovely brooch!
Hiya hunny, lovely to see a post from you, ive started a new blog as felt my old one didnt suit the name so hoping this one will revive me!! So sorry to hear about you cats.
ReplyDeleteHow on earth did you manage to walk those dogs, Im thinking it wasnt all in one go!!! Your summerhouse looks fab. Roll on some nice weather so you can use it!!
Love all your doggies, i have one on wheels at my dads which I've has since a baby, he is called Bobby, think he is a black and white terrier.
Take care, Clairexx
Hi,Sairer.so lovely to hear from you.So sorry about your lovely cat,so soon after Maude. Can i tell you that you never sound miserable at all and your posts are always so refreshing to read because you tell it like it is and Life is no jam sandwich. Some blogs sound too good to be true and not a real record of life warts and all.Youe humour and honesty are a real tonic. My new cat betty which drunken son gave me for Cristmas has turned out to be a boy and has been renamed Norman by my sons, after a dear friend who has moved away. Not quite as bad as my brother in-law's cats called Janet and Bernard!! Love Anne x
ReplyDeleteI like what Anne said-life is no jam sandwich-have never heard that before but raised a smile from me!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it just seems to be one thing after another. No idea why. Totally poo.
Sounds like Alan could be a good tonic for you though-and loving the summer house! a bit of sunshine is all thats needed now x
Its nice to see you back, and sorry that you are having a little bit of a unhappy time at the moment, but I am sure things will get better, so keep smiling, and at least you are getting some decorating done
ReplyDeleteJillx
Its good to see you back. I know what you mean about telling the truth about the grittiness of life on a blog... sometimes you wonder if it will put people off. I'm having the same problem at the moment :-(
ReplyDeleteHope things improve for youi in leaps and bounds.
Alan the dog made me smile. We have one called Ronald, we kept the names the breeder had given them as I always think its bad luck to start changing names round.
Lovely to see you back! So sorry you have had such a rotten time this year.Lets hope there are lots of good things in store for you in 2011.
ReplyDeleteThe dog story made me giggle! :0)
Bloody Hell Honey! What a lot of bad things that have come your way, no wonder you have not felt up to blogging! Heres wishing that all the crap is behind you and you feel refreshed and ready yo face a new year xxxxx
ReplyDeleteOooh no, I actually think you are very cheery, Sairer, given all the rubbish things that comes your way. Really sorry to hear about kitty, really devastating news. Things can only get better!. Happy New Year to you and your nearest and dearest...

So nice to have an update, even if there is more rain than sunshine in your life right now. It's so very hard to lose a close friend or a beloved pet; just leaves a hole in your heart, doesn't it? Time helps, but never totally heals either.
ReplyDeleteI hope 2011 brings joy, laughter and lots of moola so your worries lighten and you feel some security!
i hope that this new year will bring all things good for you.
ReplyDeletei understand the pain of losing beloved, pets who are truly part of the family and am vey sorry to here of your/ Pete's loss of friends, condolances to you both.
your dog is so beautiful and looks a lot like a dear doggy friend i once had. they are such wonderful companions. i know when my dog died our cat Marley who was very close to her, really did grieve. they are a lot like us with their emotions.
warmest hugs xxx

I don't know if this is any help or not. But I understand and feel for you. My husband due to ill health has only been able to work 2 days a week for almost a year now. Financially a big struggle. I also have one son who seems to move from one random chaos to another.
ReplyDeleteI think what I am trying to say there will be a light at the end of the road, eventually a silver lining will appear and meantime you are not alone.
I'm so glad you're back. I've only just discovered your blog and you seem lovely.
ReplyDeleteIts really awful when you lose a cat isn't it and you seem to have had more than your fair share of bad stuff too. I have cats and have always had them. Althoguh we know they'll go one day, it doesn't stop us loving them and I'm sure they love us too in their own weird, couldn't-give-a-toss-about you sort of way (you know the way they behave!). Keep blogging and hope everything works out for you and your family.

ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your pusses. We lost our beloved boys within months of each other and it was so hard. I still think I see them in the house and the garden. We now have our sweet Polly and love her dearly but will always remember and love our boys. All the best to you. Thank you for posting the gorgeous photo of your dog Red. I have just called my daughter in to ahhhh at him with me. Love Sarah
ReplyDeleteI think you do the right thing by surrounding yourself with lovely bright things. That's what I do when doom and gloom is in danger of taking over. x
